What work actually consists of

332 work activities · O*NET + Microsoft Copilot study

O*NET breaks the work of every occupation into 332 intermediate work activities — concrete, cross-cutting things people do ("Respond to customer problems", "Maintain inventory records") that recur across many jobs. This page renders each one: the occupations that perform it and, where measured, how AI is applied to it in Microsoft's "Working with AI" study of Bing Copilot conversations.

"Applied most/least" ranks how often AI performs each activity in the Bing Copilot sample — it measures where AI shows up today, not whether the activity should or will be automated.
