Where work is changing

235 occupations · O*NET 30.3 emerging tasks

Twice a year, O*NET analysts add emerging tasks to occupations whose work is visibly changing — newly observed responsibilities, or substantial revisions to existing ones. It is one of the few public signals that tracks change in the content of a job rather than its headcount or wage. Across these 235 occupations, O*NET 30.3 records 275 newly observed tasks and 53 revised ones, spanning roughly 43,027,880 workers. Below: the jobs changing fastest, then every flagged occupation.

Emerging tasks are a curated editorial signal from O*NET 30.3 — they capture changes analysts have observed and verified, not an exhaustive measure of every shift in an occupation, and a "new" task is something now being done, not a forecast. Employment and median pay are BLS OEWS (national, cross-industry, May 2024) for the parent occupation, shown for scale.
